What Weve Been Up To - updated Sept 10, 2009

Makayla just had a great summer! Lots of fun in the sun with family and friends, She had a Dance Camp, a Zoo Camp and swimming lessons most weeks.

Makayla alos started Kindergarten last week and so far so good, its a stuggle sometimes to get her to do her homework but shes learning lots and having fun, she even play teacher with Lincoln and Aden.

Jen is working very part time at a Yoga Studio (Yoga Mandala), and working on her Yoga "Practice" as they call it and has signed up to the Teachers Training Course which is a 8-9 month program.

Jon has had an interesting time this summer regarding employment, quit/was fired from the acct company he was at, then they called me back 2 months later begging me to go back, but 2 months of little to no income realy hurt. So things are on the mend. It also puched me to make a decision on getting started more seriously with Tom and Ryan in Cheques Direct. So i now spend 80% of my time there and only 20% of my time on the accounting company stuff.

From Halloween to Now!!

Well another month and a half has zoomed by once again.

I seem to find myself running out of time more and more these days. I think most of that is self inflicted though.

Anyways, ive attached a bunch of pics of MK to bring you all up to speed.

Major News is as Follows!!

Jen got her hair done recently and went back to basics more or less with a new black/brown combo instead of the usual brown blonde look. Personally I love the new look and hope she keeps it this way.

The death of a Legend - thats right folks.. due to the recent and lengthy cold snap we have been experiencing in calgary I have been forced to retire the Ford Festiva that i and so many of you have grown to love over the last 2.5 years. It is with a sad heart that I write this little note.

On a happier side, Due the the untimely passing of my beloved festiva a new vehcile has entered my heart rather quickly might I ad. So it is with great joy and thanksgiving that i announce that we are the new rightful owners of a 2009 Kia Rondo EX-V6. Its pretty sweet i must say. It has the capacity to seat 7, but the back 2 seats fold flat for cargo room/groceries etc.!! Ill try and post a pic of it sooner or later, im still waiting to bring it back to the dealership to have the windows tinted out as i demanded!

Other news - Mk is still growing, and playing more and more on her own... kind of... She is harassing the dog as much as possible. Its amazing the wide range of growling sounds Aspend can make in one day!

Other news - Aspen is scheduled for her leg surgery next week. I am not too happy about the whole thing but alas it must be done. For those of you that dont know about 3 months ago, MK was holding Aspen and they fell down 6-7 stairs. Aspen was pretty much used as a pillow (poor dog) but saved MK from much of the pain she would have felt. In that process Aspens hip socket and leg joint got wrecked pretty bad and needs $900 doggie surgery next monday to fix it up as she pretty much doesnt use that leg at all now. I personaly think Amputation is the way to go, but the vet says NO. So I lose and have to open up the old wallet. Shes been an expensive dog so far. Considering weve only had her for 7 months and shes cost us close to $3k! I digress.

Other news, My brother patrick who has been on a church mission for 2 years gets home in under 2 weeks!!!!! YEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWW. Im excited, and MK is too, she hasnt seen him since she was 2 years old!! Boy has she changed since Pat left!

Other news.. Marc, Brooke, Aden and Lincoln will be up for christmas and for patricks home coming!! Thats way exciting too!!

Other than that i think thats all the news there is.

So this is Jen adding in my two cents that Jon forgot.....In the princess pic of MK she is actually showing off her newly pierced ears!!  She decided to have them done out of the blue when we went to the mall to see Santa.  Jon and I kept asking her if she was sure and told her it was going to hurt but she stuck to her guns.  I'm pretty sure it was seeing all the cute Christmas earings she saw with her daddy in the store while I was waiting in line for Santa that gave her the resolve.  Anyway she was very brave, at least for the 1st ear then she wasn't so sure she wanted them to do the 2nd, but she did and only cried a little.  It was really sad and cute all at the same time.

Also to comment on the comments already made...that's awesome about your hair B, now we'll really match for Family Pics!  And no we didn't get the 7 seater cause of more kids, we got it for out of town guests and car pooling purposes and then the extra space for putting stuff on longer trips cause with the 2 back seats up there's no space for stuff.  Jon and I have been deliberating over the last couple months about getting back on adoption lists, this would now be the 3rd time, last time we had no luck.  Anyway after a lot of prayer and even more talking we've decided it's not for us and were going to have to be happy as a threesome, which we very much are!!  I'm sure Makayla won't suffer much being an only child, she'll most likely get to bring a friend along on trips and such when she gets a little older and cousins won't be around, not to mention the fact she gets all our attention!  Well enough about that.

We are all very excited for Christmas and uncle Pat's return, we are counting down the days with chocolate of course!!  Makayla is already counting down the days till her 5th birthday but we're doing that with how many holidays there are left since it's right before Easter, that'd be way too much chocolate!  Love to all and one last word from Jon....

Oh wait.. hehe my mom will kill me about this one.

yesterday was her 59th birthday for so next year the big 60! hehehe Love You MOM!!!!

Well tata for now! Love you all.

Jon - (Jen and Mk say Luv Luv too.)

How come there is no picture of you wearing a tiara? That's unfortunate about the Festiva, it was a sweet ride. As for Aspen, I think we should amputate your leg, then you could have fun at halloween with your costumes. From pirates to accident victims, the list is endless what you could do with one leg! Also think of the horrible and cruel pranks you could do with a removable prosthetic leg and scaring kids.

Jen,

Great minds think alike! We could be twinners-I had my hair colored last week and went darker-which I've never done before. i wanted it be closer to the color on your head but atlas, my red Marc is always saying is in my hair made the color from the book go a bit more reddish but on the darker side. I do like it so that's good. We'll see you in less than a week and we're excited!!! (And a little jealous of newest purchase-sounds like an SVU which of course I wanted but maybe, maybe someday we'll be able to switch out the van-it has come in handy an awful lot though. it's cool the seats fold down in yours- Seats 7 huh, maybe the adoption papers are in for more than one kid heheheh :)

If I can handle the cold weather may be I'll be able to see your new vehicle:)
I agree with you about Jen's hair, she looks pretty foxy!
I don't remember hearing about the fall of Makayla and Aspen - how sad that she'll need surgery, it's quite expensive but needed - too bad we're not by Uncle Dan and his clinic, I'm sure we'd get amazing rates.
Love ya all.

No pics of the new ride? My help with pushing/pulling the festiva was in vain!
