What Weve Been Up To - updated Sept 10, 2009

Makayla just had a great summer! Lots of fun in the sun with family and friends, She had a Dance Camp, a Zoo Camp and swimming lessons most weeks.

Makayla alos started Kindergarten last week and so far so good, its a stuggle sometimes to get her to do her homework but shes learning lots and having fun, she even play teacher with Lincoln and Aden.

Jen is working very part time at a Yoga Studio (Yoga Mandala), and working on her Yoga "Practice" as they call it and has signed up to the Teachers Training Course which is a 8-9 month program.

Jon has had an interesting time this summer regarding employment, quit/was fired from the acct company he was at, then they called me back 2 months later begging me to go back, but 2 months of little to no income realy hurt. So things are on the mend. It also puched me to make a decision on getting started more seriously with Tom and Ryan in Cheques Direct. So i now spend 80% of my time there and only 20% of my time on the accounting company stuff.

The Happenings From Feb 9th to March 4th 2009

We'll here are 16 pictures from the last month of our lives.

Makayla and Jen apparently went to to zoo at some point, hence the picture of makayla inside a Kangaroo. ill assume they had a good time as i wasnt there.

Then Makayla was more than excited about Valentines day this year at Preschool, she gave and received plenty of fun fun fun cards and stuff.

Then there is me and my new found hobby of Nerf Guns, I had an idea to have Nerf Wars for activities for a church activity and went out and  bought 20 nerf guns, I then proceeded to mod the guns so they shoot hard, faster and farther than normal, i am able to increase the distance from 30 ft to 50ft + pretty good if you ask me, Then i was able to make 240 home made dart bullets with FBR, BB Bullets and a hot glue gun. from start to finish, modding guns and makign darts took about 8 hours over 3 days. But i think its worth it. Makayla also enjoys shooting th edart guns in the basement with daddy every now and then. I still havent yet had an activity with the guns though so stay tuned for a post on that.

For Valentines Day I took Jen with Makayla to The Coup, is a vegitarian place on 17th avenue for Brunch. Amazingly enough I actually liked what I ate. We have gone back once since then as well for lunch. Jen really likes the food there. I personally preferred the breakfast compared to the lunch but thats just me. After brunch we hit up two different farmers/flea markets in calgary and Makayla got her face painted at one of them

She loves getting her face painted, especially of cats!

About a week ago, we took off as a family for the afternoon/evening to Canmore, we strolled around the town, walked by the river and ate dinner at a cool little family restaurant. I was able to eat steak which made up for the lack of meat i experianced at the vegetatian place. Again, i did like the food, but come on now... meat is meat! Makayla and aspen took a nap on the way out to canmore in the car.

Then you have some pictures of Makayla skiing, I think it was her 2nd lesson of this year... she had a couple last year, and has improved. She still needs some work on stopping! But that will come in time.

Makayla is still doing dance class once a week, and art class with mommy once a week. So were staying busy.

And lastly but certainly not least is a picture of Christ that a very good friend of mine painted. I love his work so we have it displayed on our piano in our front room. His prices are reasonable and I cant wait to buy more of his work in the future

Honestly, Jon, you are probably the only guy I know who thinks playing with souped-up guns and modified ammo could be a church activity!
How about crash-to-pass go-carts next? Unarmed combat for under sixes? Kiddy kamo for kids?
Glad you are having so much creative fun!

you could make it through Jen. You did it once, you could do it again :)

Just so you all know, I received a shipment yesterday of my long awaited glow in teh dark glue sticks.. they will enable me to make glow in teh dark tips on my soon to be made nerf bullets, I tried so make some glow last time with no luck, however i have big plans for the glow in the dark glue, it will work for sure, and we have our first non-sanctioned nerf activity this Friday assuming enough guys show up. as per barry's comment on crash to pass go carts, I think thats a great idea, we are planning on having a Stong Man Competition for a church activites for the guys this summer, and i suggested a Festiva Pull would be a good choice!!!
